As an artist, I am best known for doing a variety of things on my YouTube channel from anything, everything, and absolutely nothing! I’ve done sketches, covers, funny reviews, voice acting, and even a silly dance routine before TikTok made that sort of thing popular.
The most popular of my videos is a video I did about Hindu mythology which has gained 15 thousand views. Other popular videos are about cartoons. They are not reviews per se; I don’t put a rating on them but I do comedic critiques and make funny observations. I use my editorial skills to enhance and emphasize my comedic takes. I learned a lot about the Western world even my language skills through media, especially Disney. I often make comparisons to my own cultural upbringing which was very different. So my unique perspective gives my take a fresh look and makes for interesting content.
I’m also known for performing virtual Improv on Extreme Improv and Standup comedy on Improv At Its Best. Comedy has a special place in my heart. I was influenced by actors like Will Smith, Brendan Fraser, Eddie Murphy, and Robin Williams. I am a bit fresh to stand up but comedy has been a theme in most of the things I’ve done. As an actor, if you can deliver a funny performance, that’s genuine. “You can fake being sad but you can’t fake being funny,” I don’t exactly know who said this but it’s true.
All of my work has great value to me. Some is more fun and some is hard work, but they all are meaningful. If I were to put great importance on something now I’d say working with Catalysta Media Company on their project on AI has a lot of weight because of the current mainstream AI explosion. Also, it was an international project with so many artists worldwide taking part in it and I’m very grateful that I got to be in it. I also had to run the whole shoot in different locations and work with a cameraman while taking instructions from the director in New York.
Most of my YouTube videos are done in my home studio so everything is under my control. On this project, I had to be in charge of so many moving parts. So it was a different challenge than what I was used to.
Kapilthev's career highlight
I have competed in the World Monologue Games 4 times since when it first launched. I also attended 2 workshops run by WMG Founder Pete Malicki and SF3 Founder Angela Blake: Upskill Your Smartphone Self-tapes Masterclass, and Mini Screenwriting & Adaptation. I’ve also participated in "Kool-Aid Eve" — a WMG special event.
As an actor, I’m not really sure what the future holds and what projects I’ll be involved in. A lot of actors can relate to that 'cause so much of it is out of our control. So right now I’m focused on my YouTube channel SWATT DEEDS. I have gained some momentum and I want to see where it takes me.
I will also be doing Improv as often as I can on Extreme Improv. I will also be doing standup occupationally on Improv At Its Best! Improv Shows & Classes, Around The World, and wherever I get booked.
